Hey, you — want to grab some coffee? ☕Have a seat, friend. I hope you’ll stay a while. If you’ve found your way here, maybe it’s one of those comfort-seeking kind of days — the kind where you’re craving connection, fresh ideas, or perhaps just someone who gets it. Either way, I’m so glad you’re here. I’m Danyel — a homeschooling mom of four (two bigs and two littles), learning right alongside my kids every single day. Our home is calm but beautifully messy, the kind of place where coffee is always brewing and someone’s probably building a fort out of couch cushions with the blankets I just folded. Homeschooling started out as a practical decision — the Pre-K costs in our area were sky-high — but deep down, I just wasn’t ready to send my oldest off into the world to be shaped by people I didn’t know. What began as “just this year” slowly turned into “I’m not giving this up.” Somehow, five years have flown by, and I still find myself wondering how we got here so fast. Things got real when my oldest began struggling to read. His ADHD diagnosis wasn’t a surprise, but it did change everything. Suddenly, our homeschool days looked different — slower, gentler, and full of learning curves for both of us. When he finally made the leap from learning to read to reading to learn, I hit another wall: finding books that actually held his attention. Because let’s be honest — kids with ADHD don’t want to read just anything. If it doesn’t connect to their interests, it’s an uphill battle. That search for meaningful, engaging materials sparked something in me — a realization that if I was struggling to find these resources, other moms must be too. Homeschooling has shaped me just as much as it’s shaped my kids. It’s reminded me that I am their biggest influence, and that the lessons we teach at home — about faith, kindness, and perseverance — are the ones that matter most. My husband and I often say that our greatest hope is for our kids to grow up, go out into the world, and still choose to come home — for dinner, for advice, or simply for the comfort of being together. We’re happiest when life is simple — slow mornings, nature walks, and long stretches of unhurried time. Around here, success isn’t measured by how many boxes we check off, but by the connections we make. Sometimes that looks like finishing a workbook; other days, it’s a spontaneous hike or curling up by the fireplace with a good book. If there’s one thing I’ve learned (and am still learning), it’s that homeschooling is a marathon, not a sprint. You don’t just wake up one day magically patient and organized — though wouldn’t that be nice? Some days call for research, some call for apologies, and all of them call for grace. But the beauty of it all is that we don’t have to figure it out alone. So whether you’re here for homeschool inspiration, ADHD-friendly learning ideas, or just to know you’re not the only mom quoting movies your kids don’t get (guilty 🙋♀️), you’re in good company. And since we’re friends now, I’d love for you to subscribe before you go — that way, you won’t miss the next cup of coffee and conversation waiting here for you. With warmth (and probably a half-drunk cup of coffee nearby), |
